Disabled call for a Ministry that deals with their concerns
Bulawayo Agenda
July 14, 2010

Bulawayo -
Disabled people in Bulawayo have called for the formation of a ministry that will look specifically at the welfare of the disabled. They further argue that they are currently failing to access their social welfare grants. The disabled said that the separation from the ministry of social welfare to create a home ministry that looks at the needs of the disabled people in Zimbabwe will go a long way in assisting the disabled who have largely been marginalized. "Most disabled people do not get any grants from the ministry of social welfare despite attempts to get them registered," said Emakhandeni BPRA secretary for the disabled, Simbarashe Kushanda. He added that 21 disabled people from Emakhandeni had been sidelined from accessing social welfare grants and has resulted in many facing problems in their daily lives.
