CHRA member set free
Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA)
June 11, 2007

Peter Bokosi was yesterday set free by a Harare Magistrates after a successful application by the defence for refusal of further remand.

The magistrate said the State had failed to prove its case against Bokosi and others, granted bail in April. It will have to proceed by way of summons if they are needed in court.

Other pro-democracy activists, in detention since March, have been released in the last few days owing to the crumbling of the State case. Some of them including journalists Luke Tamborinyoka were released on Friday after the State failed to set trial dates.

However the case of Raymond Bake, CHRA's Ward 34 Coordinator failed to take off after the prosecutor asked for more time to go through the court papers. The matter will be heard today in Court 6.
