Residents Executive finally released!!

The long wait for Mr. Madeko,Chairperson of Mabvuku residents association and twelve other residents is over. The Resident has learnt that Mr. Madeko was released from Harare Central Prison alongside eleven other residents from Mabvuku and Tafara today (14 May 2005) after being taken to court on charges of breaching section 24: 6 of the Public Order and Security Act.

Mr. Madeko was arrested on Thursday 12 May 2005, alongside another resident who had accompanied him to the District Office on Wednesday 11 May 2005. Eleven residents from Mabvuku were subsequenly arrested and released today as well.

Combined Harare Residents Association is concerned by the continued use of brute force to downplay residents issues. The impasse regarding water and other crucial services delivery issues in Mabvuku and Tafara remains integral to residents' and council's interaction.
