Councillor assaulted in his home

Combined Harare Residents Association has learnt with shock about the assault of Councillor for Ward 11, Sydney Mazaranhanga and his 18 yr old daughter at their Home in Mbare at 5pm last night,( Tuesday 3 June) by approximately 30 Soldiers. Councillor Mazanhanga was abducted by the soldiers and has been found at Parirenyatwa Hospital. He was badly assaulted and a Mr. Kaguru who was apparently also assaulted with Mr. Mazaranhanga has died.

We condemn the continued harassment of our democratic processes by the police and armed forces. Brute force, intimidation and continued harassment council by the police and armed forces has induced fear and caused havoc in the city. Residents of the City must stand and denounce such actions as they are an afront to our faith in the elected offices of council.
