What
is a Referendum?
This is a vote
held to ascertain the views of voters on an issue of national Importance.
Zimbabwe will
hold a referendum on the 16th March 2013 to decide whether the country
should adopt the new draft constitution or not.
Who
proclaims a Referendum?
Referendum Act
Section 39 of the Electoral
Act Chpt 2.13 mandates the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe
to proclaim the date(s) and times when the referendum is to be conducted.
The Referendum
will be held on 16 March 2013
Who
is entitled to Vote?
Any Zimbabwean
citizen who is 18 years and above and is eligible to be registered
as a voter on the Voters’ Roll.
Polling Stations
will be open from 7.00am to 7.00pm
Is Registration
Required?
The current
Law does not require persons to register to vote in a referendum
but it requires one to bring his/her national identity.
