42(1) will come into force on a date to be fixed by the Zimbabwe
Electoral Commission in terms of section 42(2) – and that
date must be a date after the next general elections.]

ACT
To amend the
Electoral Act [Chapter
2:13] (No. 22 of 2004); to repeal the Zimbabwe
Electoral Commission Act [Chapter 2:12] (No. 25 of 2004); and
to provide for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing.
ENACTED by the
President and the Parliament of Zimbabwe.
PART I PRELIMINARY
1 Short
title and dates of commencement
(1) This Act
may be cited as the Electoral Amendment Act, 2012.
(2) Subsection
42(1) shall come into operation on the date fixed by the Commission
in terms of subsection (2) of that section.
(3) The remainder
of this Act shall come into operation on the date of its publication
in the Gazette.
2 Substitution
of enacting formula by preamble in Cap. 2:13
The enacting
formula of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13] (No. 22 of 2004) (hereinafter
called "the principal Act") is repealed and substituted
by the following preamble- "WHEREAS section 28 (4), 34(3),
38(2), 100B(1) and 100C of the Constitution provide as follows:
