Committee Meetings Indefinitely Postponed
All meetings of House
of Assembly portfolio committees and Senate thematic committees
have been postponed indefinitely.
The purpose
of this postponement is to avoid interrupting the current stage
of the constitution-making process, which commenced last week when
the Parliamentary Select Committee on the new Constitution [COPAC]
launched the sittings of its own seventeen thematic committees.
Many Senators and members of the House of Assembly are members of
the COPAC thematic committees, which will be working full-time for
the next two weeks at least, to prepare their reports on the results
of the COPAC outreach exercise.
