The appointment of 8
of the Provincial Governors and 3 of the appointed Senators was
announced late yesterday
These appointments will
ensure that ZANU PF have the majority of Senate Seats - of the elected
Senators ZANU PF have 30, MDC T 24 and MDC M 6. With the new appointments
ZANU PF can rely on another 11 votes. The Senator chiefs number
18 – traditionally they have voted ZANU PF
This will mean the offices
of President and Deputy President of the Senate will likely go to
ZANU PF nominees.
Voting for these offices
is by secret ballot, as for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the
House of Assembly.
Of the total of 93 Senate
seats there are two appointed Senate seats and two provincial governors
[ex officio Senate members] still to be announced.

Re-appointments:
Angeline Masuku (Matabeleland South), Thokozile Mathuthu (Matabeleland
North), Cain Mathema (Bulawayo) and David Karimanzira (Harare)
New
appointments: Martin Dinha (Mashonaland Central), Aeneas
Chigwedere (Mashonaland East), Christopher Mushowe (Manicaland)
and Faber Chidarikire (Mashonaland West)
To be
appointed: Midlands and Masvingo
