Flash
Today women
are celebrating in African countries whose governments have ratified
the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights
on the Rights of Women in Africa. It is the Second Anniversary of
this Protocol, which directly addresses the condition of African
women and represents huge strides in the formalisation of their
rights. Zimbabwe has not yet ratified, but next year let us hope
that we will be joining women round Africa in these celebrations.
