General Notice No 40 of 2005 

POLITICAL PARTIES (FINANCE) ACT [Chapter 2: 04]

Disbursement of Money to Political Parties

IT is hereby notified, in terms of subsection (2) of section 3 of the Political Parties (Finance) Act [Chapter 2:04], that the total amount of moneys payable to political parties in respect of the year beginning 26 June, 2003, and ending of 25 June, 2004, is six billion five hundred million dollars.

The money shall be disbursed to political parties that qualify in terms of subsection (3) of section 3 of the Act as follows –

(a) three billion three hundred and eighty million dollars ($3 380 000 000,00) shall be paid to the Zimbabwe African National Union (Patriotic Front) ZANU (PF), which received 52% of the total votes cast; and

(b) three billion one hundred and twenty million dollars ($3 120 000 000,00) shall be paid to the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), which received 48% of the total votes cast.
