Affiliates affirm their support to the ZCTU and its leaderships
Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU)
August 10, 2005

Pursuant to the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) leadership resolution passed on the 14th of July 2005 at Bronte Hotel in Harare, We, the undersigned affiliate unions confirm our unequivocal support to the ZCTU and the current leadership which was constitutionally elected into office in 2001.

NB: Out of the 35 affiliate unions, only 5 could not confirm their support for the current leadership.

They are the following:

  2. Associated Mine Workers Union of Zimbabwe
  3. Transport and General Workers Union
  4. Zimbabwe Leather Shoe and Allied Workers Union
  5. Zimbabwe Union of Journalists

This therefore, renders false and baseless, public statements made by certain individuals that 17 affiliate unions are not supporting the current leadership. We hope this affirmation by 30 ZCTU affiliates will clear the current confusion on the  status of the ZCTU.
