The three ZCTU activists who were arrested by Police in Bulawayo yesterday were released yesterday afternoon without any charges. The highlight of the action was the boycotting of Parliament by the Movement of Democratic Change (MDC) members of Parliament.

ZCTU activists arrested - June 09, 2005
Three activists of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions were arrested this morning by Police in Bulawayo for allegedly organising a 2 day job stayaway.

The three Percy Mcijo, David Shambare and Ambrose Manenji were picked up from their homes at the same time at around 5:00am this morning and taken to the Bulawayo Central Police Station.

The ZCTU has not ascertained about the fate of the 3 Who are still in Police custody but has already instructed lawyers to handle the issue.

The job stayaway which started today has been organised by a broad alliance of Civic Oreganisation who are protesting on the government;'s so called clean up exercise which has displaced more than 200 000 families in the urban areas and virtually stopped informal trading in the city centres.
