Adviser - Zimbabwe AIDS Network (ZAN)

The Zimbabwe
AIDS Network (ZAN) is a local non governmental organisation
based in Harare. ZAN is an umbrella organisation that provides a
platform for networking and coordinating HIV and AIDS responses
among its members (which include AIDS Service Organisations, faith-based
and private sector organisations, as well as tertiary institutions).
ZAN would like to enhance its capacity in developing and implementing
member driven policy advocacy initiatives. The Progressio Development
Worker (DW) working as an advocacy adviser will provide technical
assistance in establishing member mobilisation, coordination and
communication systems that render ZAN more effective as a leading
national network body for AIDS service organisations.
You should have
a degree and/or post graduate qualification in the area of Policy
Studies, Political Science and Administration, Development Studies,
Social Sciences, or in any other relevant discipline.
You will have
a minimum of three years' experience in HIV and AIDS related
community development work - involving research, policy development,
lobbying, documentation, campaigning and media work. You should
have demonstrable experience of designing and implementing policy
advocacy strategies on HIV and AIDS in a similar environment; of
working with NGOs and community based organisations, and of monitoring,
evaluation and effectively measuring success of advocacy strategies.
Knowledge of
the local environment (political, economic and socio-cultural) as
well as developmental issues associated with it; knowledge of the
national structures involved with HIV and AIDS governance in the
country; demonstrable ability for networking, influencing and representing;
interest in keeping abreast of policy development and associated
cross cutting issues in as far as HIV and AIDS advocacy is concerned;
demonstrable research skills, and strong persuasive writing skills
are essential. You should also have the ability to transfer skills
and knowledge through formal or informal training and skills sharing
in advocacy issues; strong IT skills for information analysis and
documentation; excellent interpersonal, communications and report
writing skills; commitment to team-building and consensus-led approach
to work; strong analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills;
an ability to communicate with a wide range of people; a readiness
to work with people with widely differing belief systems and personal
circumstances (including PLWHA), and willingness to undertake road
travel in Zimbabwe.
Experience in
fundraising and proposal writing; experience in and knowledge of
regional and international HIV and AIDS NGOs and networks, and a
driving licence are highly desirable. Please note that for this

Technology, Documentation and Communication Adviser - Zimbabwe AIDS

The Zimbabwe AIDS
Network (ZAN) is a local non governmental organisation based
in Harare. ZAN is an umbrella organisation that provides a platform
for networking and coordinating HIV and AIDS responses among its
members (which include AIDS Service Organisations, faith-based and
private sector organisations, as well as tertiary institutions).
ZAN would like to enhance its capacity in the use of information
and communication technologies (ICTs) in HIV and AIDS related information
dissemination and knowledge management. The Progressio Development
Worker (DW) working as an Information Technology, Documentation
and Communication Adviser will provide technical assistance in establishing
IT based knowledge management, learning and communication systems
that render ZAN more effective as a leading national network body
for AIDS service organisations.
You should have
a degree and or post graduate qualification in the area of Computer
Science, Information Systems, Journalism, Media Studies, Development
Studies, Social Sciences, or in any other relevant discipline. You
should have a five or more years' experience in operating
systems with IT packages related to publishing and a minimum of
three years' experience in HIV and AIDS related community
development work - involving research, documentation, knowledge
management as well as writing, designing and editing of publications.
You should also have substantial experience in working with and
maintenance of LAN/WAN; in web development, databases and server
management and maintenance; in the use of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICTs) in community development work, particularly
HIV and AIDS-related initiatives.
Knowledge of
new and emerging ICTs; ability to trouble shoot basic hardware and
software problems; excellent knowledge of IT security, anti-virus,
hardware and software; demonstrable ability to design electronic
and print IEC materials and other communication items, and ability
to transfer skills and knowledge through formal or informal training
and skills sharing in ICTs are essential. You should also have proven
understanding of HIV and AIDS as a developmental and human rights
issue; good interpersonal, communications and report writing skills;
commitment to team-building and consensus-led approach to work;
an ability to communicate with a wide range of people at different
levels; ability to plan and implement own work with limited support
and minimal supervision; a readiness to work with people with widely
differing belief systems and personal circumstances (including PLWHA)
and willingness to undertake road travel in Zimbabwe.
Previous experience
of working in the region; experience in and knowledge of regional
and international HIV and AIDS NGOs and networks, and driving licence
are highly desirable. Please note that for this placement we are

Programme Adviser

members (which include AIDS Service Organisations, the private sector,
faith-based organisations, as well as tertiary institutions). ZAN
would like to enhance its capacity in facilitating adoption of emerging
approaches in HIV and AIDS programming and Organisational Development
(OD) among its member organisations. The Progressio Development
Worker (DW) working as a Provincial Programme Adviser will provide
technical assistance in designing and delivering training programmes
for member organisations focusing on OD and adoption of new approaches
to HIV and AIDS programming at the provincial level.
You should have
a degree and/or post graduate qualification in the area of Political
Science, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or in any other relevant
discipline. You should have five or more years' experience
in field work around HIV and AIDS and community mobilisation; a
minimum of three years' experience in HIV and AIDS related
community development work - involving research, documentation
and knowledge management; demonstrable experience in monitoring
and evaluation; in organisational development initiatives, and demonstrable
networking experience.
Demonstrable
ability to use participatory approaches; proven understanding of
HIV and AIDS as a developmental and human rights issue; the ability
to transfer skills and knowledge through formal or informal training
and skill sharing in identifying and introducing or incorporating
emerging approaches to HIV and AIDS programming and strengthening
member organisation structures are essential. Excellent interpersonal,
communications and report writing skills, and to be a strong team
player with commitment to team building and consensus led approach
to work are also essential. You should also have an ability to communicate
with a wide range of people at different levels; to plan and implement
own work with limited support and minimal supervision; a readiness
to work with people with widely differing belief systems and personal
circumstances (including PLWHA), and willingness to undertake road
travel in Zimbabwe.
Experience in
and knowledge of regional and international HIV and AIDS NGOs and
networks; an ability and willingness to support fundraising efforts,
and a valid driving licence are highly desirable. This position
is based in Bulawayo. Please note that for this placement we are

Development
officer: National Council of Disabled Persons of Zimbabwe (NCDPZ)

The
main purpose of the Development Officer is to facilitate field level
implementation in the livelihoods promotion interventions in Bulawayo
Urban.
The incumbent
should have the following:
- A Diploma/Degree
in Social Sciences, Development Studies , BA or any other relevant
discipline
- Have a minimum of 3 years experience in community development
work
- Have the ability to plan & implement own work with limited
support and minimal supervision
- Understanding of Livelihoods Programmes, Disability and HIV/AIDS
as development and human rights issues
- Ability to use participatory approaches to development
- Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation
- Excellent inter personal & report writing skills
- Fluent in both Ndebele & Shona
- A valid drivers license will be an added advantage
- Be computer literate and conversant with MS Word, Excel, Internet
& e-mail and SPSS packages.
- A readiness to work with disabled people
This is a two-year
contract, with the possibility of extension. The position is based
in Bulawayo. Qualified disabled people are encouraged to apply.
