Canon Collins Trust Post Graduate Scholarships

The Canon Collins Trust provides scholarships to students from Zimbabwe
who wish to pursue a postgraduate degree (mainly Master's degrees
of one or two years) in either the United Kingdom or South Africa.
The key aim of the Scholarships Programme is to help build the human
resources necessary for economic, social and cultural development
in the southern African region and to develop an educated and skilled
workforce that can benefit the wider community. Canon Collins Trust
scholarship holders are thus expected to use the knowledge, training
and skills acquired through their studies to contribute positively
to the development of their home country. The main application process
for scholarships in South Africa opens in April and closes in August,
for study the following year. A panel of academics and others consider
the applications. To qualify, you must have completed either a university
degree or a three year post-matric diploma at a recognised training
college or a B.Tech at a former Technikon. We fund both full-time

Youth Speak Out! Raise your voice, share your ideas, get involved
in democracy. Enter the World Youth Movement for Democracy international
essay context and you could be invited to participate, all expenses
paid, in the 6th Assembly of the World Movement for Democracy in
Indonesia in April 2010. The purpose of this essay contest is to

Global Freedom to Create Prize

Are you an artist who promotes social justice, builds foundations
for open societies and inspires the human spirit? There are various
categories of participation and youth are encouraged to apply. Total
prize fund is US$125 000. The Freedom to Create Prize is implemented
by ArtAction, an organisation established by Orient Global in 2007
to improve lives on the frontlines of the developing world. Since
inception, ArtAction has supported over 200 projects in more than
80 countries. These projects have improved the lives of over 12
million people through harnessing the unique powers and properties

Available for Humanist Organisations
Deadline: 1 September 2009
The International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), in partnership
with HIVOS, is calling for proposals for providing funding support
to humanist NGOs in developing countries. NGOs from developing countries
are invited to submit proposals to IHEU under this programme. Applicant
organisations should have objectives that reflect the IHEU's
Minimum Statement on Humanism, which believes in ensuring basic
human rights, individual freedom and free inquiry. Proposed projects
should clearly promote humanism, secularism, human rights, scientific
approaches and/or develop local capacities. Specifically, the grant
will provide support to activities such as meetings, workshops,
publications, media coverage, promotion and advocacy of human rights,
propagation of scientific methods and trainings and conferences
for building the capacities of NGOs in developing countries. Proposals
need to be developed for projects that can end by the year 2010.
However, even projects running for duration of three years can also
be proposed. The total funding available for each project is around
€10 000. There is an application form available which has to
be used to write and submit the proposal. For more information please
