Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR)
March 17
, 2013

Zimbabwean police on Sunday 17 March 2013 arrested prominent human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa in Harare’s Avondale suburb on allegations of obstructing or defeating the course of justice.

The arrest came after Beatrice rendered legal assistance to Mr Thabani Mpofu, the Director of Research and Development in Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's Office. Mr Mpofu's residence was raided and searched early Sunday morning. The police also raided and searched an office along Bath Road in Avondale suburb.

Beatrice was taken to Harare Central Police by the police who also arrested Mpofu, Warship Dumba, Felix Manditse and Annah Muzvidziwa.

ZLHR will release more information once our lawyers who are attending to the case at the Harare Central Police Station have updated us.
