The Supreme
Court will on Wednesday 9 November 2011 hear an application filed
by seven Glenview residents appealing against the decision of High
Court Judge Justice Tendai Uchena, who threw out their bail application
in July.
Deputy Chief Justice Luke Malaba will hear the residents'
appeal in chambers at 10:00 hrs at the Supreme Court filed by their
lawyer, Charles Kwaramba of Mbidzo, Muchadehama and Makoni, who
is a member of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
The seven Glenview residents namely, Glenview Ward 32 councillor

Maengahama, Stanford Maengahama, Yvonne Musarurwa and Stanford Mangwiro
have been detained in remand prison since the time when they were
arrested in May for allegedly
murdering a police officer, Inspector Petros Mutedzi.
Their bid for
bail was dismissed by Justice Uchena, who on 1 July 2011 threw out
their bail application after ruling that they could flee from the
country.
Meanwhile, the
High Court will on Wednesday 16 November 2011 consider a fresh bail
application filed by Solomon Madzore, the Movement for Democratic
Change Youth Assembly chairperson whose first bail bid was vetoed
by High Court Judge Justice Hlekani Mwayera last month.
Madzore, who
is represented by Gift Mtisi of Musendekwa and Mtisi Legal Practitioners
was arrested on Tuesday 4 October 2011 and charged with murdering
Inspector Mutedza.
