Chipangano disrupts MDC rally in Chitungwiza

November 08, 2011

The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has reportedly identified the culprits who disrupted their rally at Chibuku Stadium, Chitungwiza on Sunday. However, police's inept attitude and reluctance to apprehend the culprits has raised much concern. Reports reveal that they have arrested and detained the victims (members of the MDC).

The identified culprits according to the MDC are largely members of the notorious Mbare based ZANU PF you Militia, Chipangano. They include Jim Kunaka, the ZANU PF Harare Province Youth Chairperson, ZANU PF's Chitungwiza Distric Coordinating Committee (DCC) Chairperson, Wilfred Gwekwete, Luke Luke of Ward 25. Chitungwiza North and Godknows Muzenda, a ZANU PF Harare Youth provincial member. Others include Nyasha Dziva, Chitungwiza DCC secretary, Dennis Fisher, Lloyd Bhunu, Tichaona Chapfika and Tonderai Kasukwere. Kasukwere is young brother to ZANU PF Politburo member Saviour Kasukwere.

Ironically, the police are now targeting and arresting known MDC youths in Chitungwiza who were attacked while preparing for the cleared rally by overzealous thugs from ZANU PF. Julius Marambakutongwa and Kuda Muchemwa, (both MDC youths) are said to be in detention at St. Mary's police station Chitungwiza for allegedly causing the mayhem.

Meanwhile the same suspected group, (Chipangano) is accused of stalling developmental projects in communities. They have recently been implicated in the transfer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation US$5million housing scheme from Mbare to Dzivarasekwa. It is said that the project had to be moved after the gang demanded 51% of the houses. The project would have seen new housing units being built for the poor in Mbare. Harare Mayor Muchadeyi Masunda is said to have admitted that they had to move the project to Dzivarasekwa because they risked losing out on the funding if they gave in to Chipangao's outrageous demands.
