Sibanda still reigning terror in Masvingo
Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights)
October 26, 2011

ZimRights has learnt with great concern that war veteran leader Jabulani Sibanda, infamous for coercing people to support ZANU PF continues with his reign of terror on people in Masvingo.

Several calls have previously been made from different sectors including fellow ZANU PF peers, to vacate the areas. All have fallen on deaf ears.

Reports indicate that the war veterans' leader is currently plying his uncivilized mission in Chivi Central. He is said to have visited ward 22 at Maringire Business Centre on the 10th October, ward 10 at Muramba School on 13 October, and ward 18 at Gwitima business centre on the 14th and ward 16 Nyamakawe on the 15th. The source revealed that, with the support of a ZANU PF District Coordinating Committee chairperson and a local businessman (name supplied), Jabulani is forcibly convening meetings where he is threatening villagers with death or evictions if they do not comply. Those who resist also face elimination from beneficiary government schemes such as farming inputs distribution.

ZimRights strongly condemns this continued suppression of the freedom of expression and the inept attitude that is displayed by responsible leaders towards such behaviour by party supporters. While, the police are expected to execute justice in dealing with such persons, political parties must reprimand their supporters when they fall out with the law. No one is above the law.

Meanwhile we remind Sibanda of the repercussions of perpetrating human rights with objective that he takes lessons from the convictions of those who murdered Moses Chokuda in 2008 and the man who raped an MDC-T activist in 2008 during a presidential run off.
