July 05, 2011
Zimbabwe Human
Rights Association congratulates Njabulo Ncube, Assistant Editor
of the Financial Gazette and Kumbirai Mafunda of the Zimbabwe
Lawyers for Human Rights for scooping the Media
Institute of Southern Africa Zimbabwe (MISA) Chairmanship and
Deputy positions respectively.
The acknowledgement
also extends to Kelvin Jakachira, the political editor of Newsday
and Lifaqane Nare from Zimbabwe Union of Journalist in Bulawayo
who came in as committee members.
Their uncontested
election demonstrates partners' appreciated of their hard
work in championing for the opening up and sustenance of unlimited
media sources. In particular, the preferential treatment is an acknowledgement
of the value that they put in information abundance as a human right
that leads to the enjoyment of other rights. We hope that they will
remain committed and true on the duty bestowed upon them by the
electorate in the next five years in office, while acknowledging
the work done by, Loughty Dube, former Newsday editor and outgoing
chairman.
