Reports from
Masvingo reveal that Chief Ziki disrupted an MDC rally that was
scheduled for Saturday at Baradzanwa business centre. The Chief
is said to have made clear that his area was a strong hold hence
barring any opposition political party gatherings to e held in his
community. It is said that he ordered people who had gathered to
disperse or he would assign his loyal youth to him to descend upon
them. In addition, the chief even threatened that any attempts to
attend any other rally apart from ZANU PF's will result in
one being sacked out the community.
ZANU PF is also
accused of taking
the law into its own hands in Mbare. From the 28 of May to date,
rowdy youths are reportedly victimising residents of the suburb,
evicting them from their council houses giving them as rewards to
ZANU PF loyalists. The same has also occurred at Mupedzanhamo market
where all suspected opposition members are stripped of their stands
which are given away to ZANU PF supporters. Police in Mbare have
not reacted to these developments, which has caused worry amongst
the unfortunate victims.
Meanwhile, the
MDC supporters who were arrested
on Monday in connection with the murder of a police man in Glenview
are being denied the right to speak to their lawyers. The police
are said to be arguing that they are still vetting the suspects.
In a related case, residents in and around Glenview 3 are reported
to be fleeing their home amid reports that police continue to arrest
people from around.
