ZimRights officers still in detention
Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights)
May 24, 2011

Police are still unlawfully holding in custody ZimRights Regional Coordinator, Florence Ndlovu and Paralegal Officer Walter Dube.

Recent updates have revealed that the police continue to deny their lawyers access saying that the two have been moved from Nyamandlovu police station to Siphepha in Tsholotsho. It is said the organisation's vehicle that had been parked outside Nyamandlovu police station yesterday and earlier today was not there later afternoon. No charges have been laid yet.

ZimRights outrightly condemns this unlawful arrest which clearly breaches both the organisation and the two officers' right to freedom of expression and assembly. The two have been detained for more than twenty-four hours without any charges laid against them and the police continue to violate their right to talk to their lawyers.
