Organ and the Ministry fails the nation
COTRAD
May 20, 2011

The government through the Ministry of National Healing and the organ for healing have so far failed the nation which is in deep wounds prior to the formation of G.P.A on September 15 2008.Nothing has utterly been done in respect to the nation state as a governing board that safeguard its citizens and has virtually and dismally failed .There is need for transformation of traditional leaders and this must begin with the council of chief Fortune Charumbira who in Masvingo forced chiefs to force subjects into signing the Anti-Sanctions Petition and have been infiltrated by politicians and are harshly compromised in areas like Zaka, Mwenezi and Chivi and are facilitating the expulsion of subjects as they withhold divergent views regarding the politics of the day.

In Mwenezi the government is abusing facilities under the guise of traditional leaders' empowerment through the launched housing scheme ,but these often become party property and converted to torture bases. In light to this most youths in Masvingo have advocated if need be a truth recovery be established to expose evil things those that were committed during the dark days of violence. Proper peace building will be difficult unless identity of perpetrators is revealed.

It is imperative to have the church given its freedom this comes in the wake of the highly polarized churches in Zimbabwe with the ZCC of Samuel Mutendi and latest revelations by Paul Mwazha on the anti-sanctions petitions encouraging subjects to put pen onto the petition.

Masvingo had severe cases of women raped during the political violence era and nothing has been done to account for the perpetrators but the talk of elections is rampant while memories of previous atrocities committed has not been dealt with. Restoration of fundamental freedoms must addressed to remove fear in the society.

In Manicaland Mutasa district under chief Mandeya cultural activities have been corroded as they are regarded to be political gatherings. Subjects are not allowed to brew beer to cleanse their own dead who fall victims to the political violence. Such accusations by custodians of culture must be stopped and redressed. Teachers in the district again have been harassed for being aligned to certain political parties particulary at Nyamhingura Secondary School which means the blackmailing and victimization of teachers is still rampant. This has far reaching repercussions to the education sector as teachers flee away in fear for their lives. Thus proper national healing has been dealt a blow by non competence on the part of organ and the ministry. Elections will only serve to create more disparities amongst the communities amid revelations of impending elections with more fighting, more manipulation and more unwanted pregnancies thus violence must be stopped, reconciliation be encouraged by all stakeholders.
