Concern as police visit the Forum offices
Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum
March 11, 2011

The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum (the Forum) offices were yesterday 10 March 2011 visited by two police officers from Harare Central Law and Order Section, one Detective Sergent Ndawana and Detective Constable Musiiwa. They demanded to see the Executive Director Abel Chikomo whereupon they were advised that he was attending meetings outside the office.

They then demanded the organisation's registration certificate and number under the PVO Act. The two officers instructed that the Executive Director, Abel Chikomo, reports in person without fail the afternoon of 10 March or morning of 11 March to Harare Central Law and Order Section as he has "questions to answer" and also bring the certificate of registration. Last month the Harare Central Law and Section summoned the Director and demanded that he explained the registration status of the organisation to which he furnished them with
the organisation's constitution and explained that it was registered as a Common Law Universitas. He explained to the investigating officer what Common Law Universitas is.

The Executive Director is currently attending meetings outside town and will only be in the office on Monday. He will report to the Harare Central Law and Order Section on Monday morning.
