UZ
withholds NCA Spokesperson academic results
National Constitutional Assembly (NCA)
October
06, 2010
In a clear act
of victimisation the University
of Zimbabwe (UZ) authorities are illegally withholding the academic
results of the National Constitutional Assembly National Spokesperson
Madock Chivasa. Chivasa sat for his final BA General Degree examinations
in August and is failing to get his results after college authorities
advised him to report to the chief security officer Mr Tarambiwa
claiming that there were issues he needed to clear with the security.
Surprisingly the security personnel later advised Chivasa that the
case was now being handled by the UZ vice Chancellor Levi Nyagura.
Chivasa, a former
student leader was reinstated at the UZ last year after serving
an effective eight year suspension on allegations of leading unrest
on campus.
Zimbabwe
Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has since dispatched lawyers
to deal with the matter.
The NCA demands
that the UZ administration to immediately release the results of
Chivasa unconditionally.
Meanwhile......
The National
Constitutional Assembly National Taskforce will be meeting this
weekend to chat the organisation's way forward regarding the
constitutional making process. Resolutions of the meeting will be
announced at a press conference to be held at a later date.
