ZimRights'
Article VII Voices for
Healing Documentary scooped the Best Zimbabwean Production Award
at the Zimbabwe International Film Festival, the biggest film festival
in the country.
This year's
theme was "Spotlight" and ZimRights took part in the
festival which was held from the 27th of August to the 5th of September
2010. Article VII was amongst the 27 documentaries screened during
the festival, together with 26 feature films and 18 short.
In line with
this year's theme, the documentary casts a spotlight on the
Zimbabwe situation, revealing some of the gruesome effects of the
pre and post election period of 2008 as well as references to the
Gukurahundi massacres of the 1980s. The documentary was screened
three times at two venues; twice at the Alliance Francaise in Harare
and once at Pakare Paye studio in Norton.
Article VII
has been screened not only around Zimbabwe, but also in Uganda,
South Africa and Namibia, where it has also earned a lot of publicity
as it evokes discussions on the state of affairs in Zimbabwe and
whether or not the country is ready for elections, seeing that most
people have not healed.
