Constitution bulletin day 50 & 51
Zimbabwe Human
Rights Association (ZimRights)
August 26, 2010
A COPAC outreach
team that facilitated a meeting on 25 August at Bingaguru Primary
School, in Mashonaland West, recorded a total of 133 people.
From the participants,
it was noted that youth participation is still low, with only 29
youths present.
Most of the
views shared during the meeting were generally one sided, reflecting
parroting of a political position. However, the participants started
to open up on other thematic areas that have not been politicised,
like labour.
Meanwhile, Manicaland
has reports of black out periods in the constitution consultations.
Some of the reasons cited are fuel shortages, misunderstanding between
team members and disputes over late remuneration for the team members.
Youth participation,
like in other provinces is still low in Manicaland and low male
turnout had also been noticed.
