All hell broke lose in Mashonaland West as COPAC outreach teams ran for their lives, after getting threats from rowdy local youths.

Despite yesterday's delays, which were supposed to smooth out the process, the Chinhoyi outreach teams did not have it easy today. Public consultations in the area were fruitless due to disturbances caused by some suspected ZANU PF thugs citing that they should be escorted by the police. All the people who had gathered for the meetings were forced to go back home, while the COPAC representatives were chased away by the gangs. Due to administration challenges outreach teams, instead of traveling with police officers, had been informed that police officers will be waiting for them at the meeting points.

The outreach members went back to the departure point where they were waiting for a meeting at 3pm today to map the way forward.

Meanwhile, in Marondera, the outreach teams were relaxing in the hotels, as there was no progress due to unspecified reasons. However, the team leaders went out into the communities to apologize for the inconveniences caused and to inform the people that without fail the public meetings will commence tomorrow.

In Manicaland, reports have revealed that things are running smoothly. Despite the delays of late deployment encountered yesterday, public meetings are going according schedule.

ZimRights calls on Zimbabweans to put their political differences aside and join in the constitution making process. The success of this process lies in the cooperation and efforts of every Zimbabwean.
