Restoration of Human Rights (ROHR)
March 19, 2010
It was a flurry of joy
as Gahaodus and Marco were today set free after spending two months
jailed in Masvingo for allegedly breaking immigration laws. They
will be transported back to South Africa to be reunited with their
families this afternoon.
Speaking to ROHR Zimbabwe
soon after his release from a holding cell in Harare Rhodesvile
police station, Gahaodus was thankful of the role that ROHR Zimbabwe
played in unearthing their plight and directing the attention of
the South African Embassy to rescue them. Gahaudos and his son are
both working for the Salvation Church in Johannesburg South Africa
where they are feeding more than 300 destitute Zimbabweans daily
as a part of humanitarian assistance towards those who were forced
to cross over into South Africa to escape the woos of economic meltdown
and harsh political terrain in Zimbabwe. The two were arrested early
February at Beitbridge boarder post and detained illegally at Masvingo
remand prsison until the time of their release.
