    • At the High Court defence lawyer Harrison Nkomo files a bail application for Jestina Mukoko pending the hearing of her constitutional challenge at the Supreme Court.
    • Another defence lawyer Andrew Makoni files another bail application at the High Court for Concillia Chinanzvavana and five Others pending an appeal hearing at the High Court.
    • Proceedings in State v Fidelis Chiramba and Others resume at the Magistrates' Court.
    • State lawyers ask for the matter to be postponed to 09 February 2009.
    • Defence lawyer Charles Kwaramba informs Harare Magistrate Olivia Mariga that he intends to make an application seeking an order to refer Chiramba and other detained MDC members to the Avenues Clinic for examination and treatment as they have not been attended to by doctors and dentists at Chikurubi Prison Hospital.
    • Kwaramba, who indicates that he could make the application between Wednesday and Friday informs Mariga that his clients had reported complaints about suffering from various ailments, which needed the attention of doctors and proper medication.
    • Kwaramba says Chiramba is suffering from high blood pressure while other detainees are suffering from tooth aches and other undisclosed ailments.
    • Chiramba's face is visibly swollen while Concillia Chinanzvavana and husband Emmanuel Chinanzvavana have swollen gums because of excessive tooth aches.
    • State lawyers tells Mariga that Michael Mugabe, a law officer in the office of the Attorney-General who is supposed to scrutinize the detained MDC members' medical records is not available.
    • Prosecutors insists that the detainees be remanded to 09 February and can proceed to make an application seeking referral to the Avenues Clinic once Mugabe is in attendance.
    • Mariga postpones court proceedings to 09 February 2009 pending an appeal hearing in the High Court filed by defence attorneys, which has not been set down yet.

    26 January 2009

    • At the Magistrate Courts, Harare Magistrate Gloria Takundwa dismisses an affidavit filed by State Security Minister Didymus Mutasa seeking to block investigations of torture raised by Chris Dhlamini, Gandi Mudzingwa and Andrison Manyere and others.
    • Takundwa says the filing of the affidavit to block investigations is misplaced and orders the police to continue with the investigation and report their findings to the Magistrates Court on February 9 2009, their next remand hearing date.
