The Zimbabwe
Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) leaders Wellington Chibebe and
Lovemore Matombo were released today 19 May 2008. The two, who were

Post-election
political violence intensifies
Nelson Chamisa, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Spokesperson
has reported that the death toll amongst MDC members has risen to
41.
He said that
Godfrey Kauzane and one Nyevhe were found dead over the weekend.
Their bodies were decomposed, Chamisa said. The two corpses are
currently at Parirenyatwa Mortuary.
Meanwhile Tonderai
Ndira, the MDC Secretary for Security in the Youth Assembly is still
missing. Ndira was abducted from his homestead in Mabvuku by heavily
armed police last Wednesday.
Zimbabwe has
been rocked by state-sanctioned murders, assaults, forced disappearances,
arson and kidnappings of opposition and pro-democracy activists
following President Mugabe's loss to MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai
in the presidential election held on 29 March 2008.
The illegal
killings and abductions intensify as the country prepares of the
presidential election re-run on 27 June 2008.
