    ZCTU leaders still detained . . . .
The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) President and Secretary General Lovemore Matombo and Wellington Chibebe who were arrested on Tuesday the 7th of May 2008 are still detained at the Harare Central Police Station. Chibebe and Matombo are accused of inciting public violence during the May Day celebrations held at Dzivarasekwa Stadium on the 1st of May 2008. Their lawyer Alec Muchadehama informed the Coalition team in an interview that he was battling with the police to get the two to court this afternoon

    MDC activists granted bail . . .
The 22 MDC activists arrested last month were today granted bail by the Harare Magistrates Court. However, the state has made an appeal against them in the High Court under the Section 121 of the Law and Order with the exception of Edith Mpofu and Agripa Mtasa.

    Harrison Nkomo released . . . .
Harrison Nkomo from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) was today released from police custody. He was released on a 5 billion bail.

    ZESN Election observers attacked . . .
Five accredited ZESN observers were three days ago attacked at their homes. Three of the cases occurred at Logan Farm about 10km from Shamva where known ZANU PF supporters, particularly war veterans had been threatening to evict and burn down resettled farmers that observed the election. It is reported that on the 5th of May 2008 war veterans and ZANU PF supporters descended on the homes of 4 supervisors and tortured them, burnt their huts and destroyed their food reserves and furniture in broad daylight.

In Wadzanai, a residential area in Shamva, the home of another ZESN observer was extensively damaged and property destroyed when a gang of ZANU PF youth went on a rampage attacking suspected MDC sympathisers on the eve of the 7th of May 2008.

The perpetrators have gone as far as confiscating the observers' accreditation cards, t-shirts and other identification particulars in Mutoko and Mudzi North area. The perpetrators who include war veterans, ZANU PF youth militias and traditional leaders like the headman Chingwena of Mudzi North are also restricting movement of citizens in the area and asking people to report to their torture camps.

The victims are accused of conniving with the MDC to allegedly rig the presidential election held on 29 March 2008.
