Scores of people arrested in Harare
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR)

ZLHR informs that more than 200 delegates to the People’s convention were arrested in Harare today this afternoon by the police. The delegates who mainly consisted of women were trying to check in into a local hotel in preparation for the All People’s Convention scheduled for this Friday and Sat when they were arrested.

About 10 -15 women who were part of a second group also arrested at the same time have been released at the intervention of Lawyers from the National Human Rights Defenders Unit from Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights. Lawyers Tafadzwa Mugabe and Wozani Moyo are currently at the Harare Central Police station attending to the case.
