PTUZ members arrested
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR)
February 02, 2007

3 teachers, members of the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) were arrested at Gaza Secondary School around 1330pm for staging a "sit in". The trio, Charles Kaguramhamba, Henry Chinorumba, and P Dube are currently being detained at Chipinge Police Station by officers from the Law and Order Section Chipinge.

Mr. Blessing Nyamaropa, ZLHR member in Chipinge has been deployed to attend to teachers.

These arrests come in the wake of threats of arrest on the person and family of Mr. Raymond Majongwe, the Secretary General of PTUZ and in particular to his wife, Mrs. Loice Majongwe by members of the Law and Order Section from Harare Central Police Station around 5 am, Thursday 1 February 2007.
