CONCERN OVER CONTINUED HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN ZIMBABWE

Receipt of your letter dated 21 September 2006 regarding the above-mentioned is hereby acknowledged. 

I have noted with concern and wish to inform you that the Government of South Africa is constantly engaging the Government of Zimbabwe at the political, economic and social levels. The Government of South Africa, together with African Union (AU) Government and the international community will continue to assist the government and the people of Zimbabwe to find a lasting solution to the major challenges that their country is facing. 

In addition, I wish to assure you that the Government of South Africa will continue to urge and support the people of Zimbabwe to work for peace, security and stability in their country.
