HIV
and AIDS policy launch
Heads of Christian
denominations in Zimbabwe (HOCD)
November 03, 2005
The Heads of
Christian denominations in Zimbabwe [HOCD], the umbrella body of
all Christian Churches in Zimbabwe, will be launching an HIV and
AIDS policy for all Christian Churches in Zimbabwe.
The event will
be held at Harare Sheraton grounds on Friday 4th November
2005 starting at 9:00am. The guest of honour will be the Minister
of Health and Child welfare, Dr David Paririnyatwa.
Over 100 guests
are invited to this special event and these include senior Government
officials, heads of Churches in Zimbabwe, Church HIV and AIDS coordinators,
Pastors, Priests and Reverends that are committed to fight HIV and
AIDS, People Living With HIV and AIDS [PLWHAs], representatives
of various AIDS service organizations and representatives of international
organizations and the donor community.
This comprehensive
policy signals a new resolve by the heads of Church denominations
in Zimbabwe in the fight against HIV and AIDS. The policy demonstrates
a new determined unified approach by Churches in Zimbabwe to holistically
respond to the pandemic through Christian based principles and values
of prevention, mitigation and provision of comprehensive and compassionate
care and support for the infected and affected without moral judgment
following the example of Christ our Lord who treated the sick with
love and above all with respect for their God given dignity.
