SAfAIDS
(Southern Africa HIV/AIDS Information Dissemination Service)
April 06, 2004
SAfAIDS (Southern
Africa HIV/AIDS Information Dissemination Service) is proud to announce
the start of a new 13-part television show on ZTV. Starting on April
6th, the show entitled "Perspectives" will be airing every
Tuesday at 18:30hrs.
"Perspectives"
is a new television series that gives Zimbabweans an opportunity
to explore, discuss and debate key issues related to HIV and AIDS.
On the show, the host, Tariro Makanga, interviews key resource people
on a variety of issues including workplace policies on HIV/AIDS,
access to treatment and addressing stigma and discrimination. A
live studio audience is invited to join the discussion to share
their experiences. The discussions are interspersed with poems and
mini-dramas to highlight issues arising from the discussion.
On April 6,
2004, the first programme of 'Perspectives' features Zambian AIDS
Activist, Mr. Richard Mgana. He describes the impact of stigma and
discrimination on the region's response to HIV/AIDS. A touching
poem delivered by veteran actor, Jasen Mphepo highlights the stigma
felt by a person living with HIV. The show aims to kick-start discussions
on key HIV/AIDS issues and encourage families and communities to
take action toward improving the quality of life for people infected
and affected by HIV and AIDS.
The programme
is a co-production between SAfAIDS, ZBC and Mighty Movies. Your
feedback and comments are welcome!
