Demographic and Health Survey 2010/11 preliminary report Download
this document I. Introduction The 2010-11 Zimbabwe Demographic and Health Survey (2010-11 ZDHS) was implemented by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency from late September 2010 through March 2011 with a nationally representative sample of nearly 11,000 households. All women age 15-49 and all men age 15-54 in these households were eligible for individual interview. Other agencies and
organizations facilitating the successful implementation of the survey
through technical and donor support include the Ministry of Health and
Child Welfare (MOHCW), the National Microbiology Reference Laboratory
(NMRL), the USAID/Zimbabwe Mission, the United Nations Population Fund
(UNFPA), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations
Children's Fund (UNICEF), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), and the United Kingdom Department for International Development
(DFID), the European Union (EU), the National
AIDS Council (NAC), Population
Services International (PSI), University
of Zimbabwe The 2010-11 ZDHS is a follow-up to the 1988, 1994, 1999 and 2005-06 ZDHS surveys and provides updated estimates of basic demographic and health indicators. In contrast to past ZDHS, the 2010-11 ZDHS was carried out using electronic personal digital assistants (PDAs) rather than paper questionnaires for recording responses during interviews. This preliminary report presents a first look at selected results of the 2010-11 ZDHS. A comprehensive analysis of the data will appear in a final report to be published in 2012. Although the results presented here are considered provisional, they are not expected to differ significantly from those presented in the final report.
