Padare/Enkundleni marches against violence on women
Padare/Enkundleni/Men's Forum on Gender

Harare's streets were turned into a hive of activity when over 600 men on Friday marched in Harare's C.B.D to show their commitment to eliminating violence on women.

Men and boys were represented at all levels with school children, those in tertiary institutions, from the workplace, chiefs and coming together to speak with one voice against violence on women. A number of partners in the broader civic movement turned up in solidarity amongst them Crisis Coalition,Youth Alliance for Democracy, CHRA, ZINASU, SST, SAfAIDS, WAG,TIZ to name a few.

Padare Enkundleni's Board Chairperson Mr. Jonah Gokova led the march together with The Minister of Women's Affairs and Gender development Hon Olivia Muchena and Chief Chiveso from Bindura.

The march started at corner Jason Moyo and Sam Nujoma straight into Julius Nyerere and ended at Harare Gardens where the main celebrations were held. Speaker after speaker hailed Padare for its work.

The Guest of Honour acknowledged the work that the men's movement as represented by Padare/Enkundleni is doing in communities to promote gender equality. She implored that her ministry will do all they can to assist in the fight for gender equity. She also expressed her happiness in seeing that quite a lot of men have committed themselves to work towards ending violence against women.

In his opening remarks Padare/Enkundleni Director Mr. Leo Wamwanduka highlighted that Padare is open to all men who want to see a better and just society.
