  • Election Resource Centre (ERC) trial postponed to the 16th of December 2013
    Election Resource Centre
    November 26, 2013

The trial of the Election Resource Centre represented by Director, Tawanda Chimhini and three staff volunteers namely Moses Chikora, Farai Saungweme and Wadzanai Nyakudya was remanded to the 16th of December 2013 at the Rotten Row magistrate Courts. The four are facing charges of contravening section 40(c)(1)(g) of the Electoral Act ahead of the July 31 election, which outlaws voter education without the approval of Zimbabwe Election Commission. This morning, the four briefly appeared before Rotten Row Court, Magistrate, Mahwe in Court
    5. The defence counsel sought postponement, which was granted by consent. The Magistrate ordered all the parties to return to court on the 16th of December 2013, as presently it was overwhelmed with other cases. Trust Maanda of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights acted on behalf of the accused persons.
