ZESN's Masvingo offices broken into again
Zimbabwe
Election Support Network
February 21, 2013
The Zimbabwe
Election Support Network (ZESN)'s Masvingo offices were broken
into again this morning around 0100hrs. According to the security
guard who was present, seven unknown people (3 men and 4 women)
who were armed with guns broke in through the window and took with
them a PC monitor, a fan, a landline handset, three electricity
adapters, a blackberry 8310 and 800 T-shirts. They also took away
two top drawers from the Field Officer's desk with all the
contents. This follows another break in on Monday 18 February 2013
around 0200hrs at the same offices were 8 boardroom chairs, several
T-shirts, a printer and another computer were also taken. Both break-ins
were reported to Masvingo Central Police Station.
It is not clear
whether these events are related to the raiding of ZESN's
head office in Harare that happened on Tuesday 19 February 2013.
However, ZESN has serious concerns over this seeming coincidence
against the backdrop of the ongoing onslaught on civic society organisations.
