Six ZINASU
activists, Pride Mkono, Tinashe Mtyaso, Tinashe Chisaira, Francis
Mufambi, Tryvine Musokeri and Joram Chikwadze, appeared before Harare
Magistrate Don Ndirowei today the 18th of July for the continuation
of their trial. The six are facing charges of Disorderly Conduct
in a public place as defined in section 41 of the Criminal
Law (Codification and Reform) Act. Their case will continue
on the 6th of August when the cross examination of defense starts.
It is the state's case that on the 21st of March this year,
the six together with about 30 other accomplices who are still at
large gathered outside the Magistrates' court in solidarity
with Welcome Zimuto, Antoneta Choto, Munyaradzi Gwisai, Edson Chakuma,
Hopewell Gumbo and Tatenda Mombeyarara whose sentence
was to be handed down that day. It is alleged the ZINASU activists
were singing obscene songs and chanting slogans, they also threw
fliers inscribed, "Freedom for Zimuto, Choto, Gwisai, Chakuma,
Mombeyarara and Gumbo.
Prosecuting is Nyikadzino Machingura and the defense lawyer is Obey
Shava.
