June 20, 2012
Six ZINASU leaders
Pride Mkono, Tinashe Mtyaso, Tinashe Chisaira, Francis Mufambi,
Tryvine Musokeri and Joram Chikwadze appeared before Harare Magistrate
today the 20th of June for their trial continuation. Their case
will continue tomorrow the 21st of June, as the witness could not
attend court. The six are facing charges of Disorderly Conduct in
a public place as defined in section 41 of the Criminal
Law (Codification and Reform) Act. Since the 18th of June their
case has continuously been postponed and they have been attending
court everyday this week.
It is the state's
case that on the 21st of March this year, the six together with
about 30 other accomplices who are still at large gathered outside
the Magistrates' court in solidarity with Welcome Zimuto,
Antoneta Choto, Munyaradzi Gwisai, Edson Chakuma, Hopewell Gumbo
and Tatenda Mombeyarara whose sentence
was to be handed down that day. It is alleged the ZINASU activists
were singing obscene songs and chanting slogans, they also threw
fliers inscribed, "Freedom for Zimuto, Choto, Gwisai, Chakuma,
Mombeyarara and Gumbo.
