Two Great Zimbabwe University students convicted
Students Solidarity Trust
May 17, 2012

Two Great Zimbabwe University students July Musengi and Effeso Munaro appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Brian Makunde today the 17th of May for their ruling. The two were convicted, cautioned and discharged. Initially they were four of them who were charged but the other two Tapiwa Gwara and Tapiwa Madyira were acquitted on the 15th of May due to lack of evidence at the close of the state's case. They were facing charges of public violence under section 36 of the Criminal Law [Codification and Reform] Act [Chapter 9:23], emanating from challenging the authorities after they had been ordered to defer their studies upon late payment of fees.

Prosecuting was Tawanda Tandirai and Collen Maboke represented the students.
