Students Solidarity Trust
May 15, 2012

Four Great Zimbabwe University students appeared before a Masvingo Magistrate today the 15thof May to hear their ruling in a case that has gone on for close to a year now. Two of the students, Tapiwa Gwara and Tapiwa Madyira were acquitted due to lack of evidence at the close of the state's case. The other two, July Musengi and Effeso Munaro were told to return on the 17th of May. They are facing charges of public violence under section 36 of the Criminal Law [Codification and Reform] Act [Chapter 9:23], emanating from challenging the authorities after they had been ordered to defer their studies upon late payment of fees.
