Disciplinary
hearing for three Bindura student activists postponed
Students
Solidarity Trust
August 12, 2011
The disciplinary hearing
for three Bindura University students, Trevor Chamba, Ian Makone
and David Kuipa has been postponed to allow the students to give
a written account of what transpired on the 30th of May 2011. Accusations
against them are that they were on the forefront of inciting other
students into wrongful acts. It is alleged that on the day in question
they were singing in the examination room whilst they were addressing
unregistered students who were denied to write examinations. Their
actions are said to be in violation of the rules of Students Conduct
and disciplinary ordinance of 2001 paragraphs 1:3, 1:4, 3.1.5 and
3:2.1.
The request
for them to give a written account comes after the security details
present that day have submitted their own account of what transpired.
The Students
Solidarity Trust continues to encourage the authorities to impartially
adjudicate this matter.
