Midlands State University opens for a new semester
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
January 24, 2011
Midlands State
University (MSU) opened today for its new semester and lectures
are expected to commence rolling with effect from this day. Students
however as usual are clamoring about the lack of decent accommodation
as the university facilities cannot cater for all who are in dire
need of it.
The university authorities notified the students
that those who will have paid at least 75% of the tuition fees are
the ones entitled to enter the lecture rooms. The Student Representative
Council is bound to have a meeting with the Registrar name supplied
as Taguta over this sensitive issue.
Meanwhile the
National University
of Science and Technology will be closing its doors for this
semester tomorrow the 25th of January 2011 with the second semester
commencing on the 7th of February 2011. Lupane State University
(LSU) will kick-off its new semester on the 31st of January 2011
and the SRC has managed to negotiate with the administrative authorities
to allow students who will have paid a minimum of US$200 to register.
ZINASU President Obert Masaraure lambasted at a
ZINASU organized public meeting in Harare last week that the government
for its lack of sincerity to construct LSU in the rural parts of
Lupane as it is not benefiting in any way the people of that area.
The government should desist from using the idea of having LSU as
a political gimmick.
