ZINASU robbed of two
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
September 20, 2010
Bindura University
of Science Education drastically condensed the number of students
who should be accommodated by the halls of residences by more than
50% which has resulted in some students being transformed into being
academic squatters. Six students were mugged by thieves as they
were crossing from the main campus where they were studying to their
residences outside campus since they were non-resident students.
Brian Chirume
a final year student died on the spot with the other five being
hospitalised at Bindura General Hospital. A student whose name was
only supplied as Michael was transferred from Bindura to a hospital
in Harare whose name was not supplied as he was in a critical condition.
He died in the process of being transported to Harare on Sunday
the 19th of September.
Malvern Mubaira
one of the students who are still hospitalized said, 'The
administrative authorities are insensitive to the plight of student
they have delayed the process of providing accommodation through
the use of boarding houses.' ZINASU delegation led by the
President Obert Masaraure left yesterday in the evening for the
funeral of Chirume in Chivhu whose burial is scheduled for today
in the afternoon.
Robert Mugabe
on Friday capped a diminutive size of 363 graduates and did not
give an ear to the pleas of students. The outgoing SRC President
Paul Dakarai briefly outlined the quagmires that have hit BUSE to
the Chancellor whose reaction proved that the octogenarian ruler
is no longer fit to remain in charge of all state universities and
the nation. ZINASU needs answers and on Wednesday the leadership
will be heading for BUSE to find a solution to this endemic crisis.
