Midlands State University suspends two
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
August 24, 2010
The Midlands State University (MSU) has indefinitely
suspended two student leaders for allegedly associating themselves
with ZINASU and its President Obert Masaraure in trying to cause
mayhem and furore at the institution of higher learning. The students
Tryvern Musokera and Stephen Tshuma are also being accused of spraying
graffiti on campus which was denouncing the Vice-Chancellor Ngwabi
Bhebhe.
Their suspension letters declared that the two are
not MSU's students since they were not registered for this
semester which commenced in Mid-August of 2010. Reliable sources
have informed the union that the ZINASU President Obert Masaraure
is bound to get a life-ban from MSU soon. The number of suspensions
has reached 50 within a space of a year which has shown that students
are not experiencing any transition as victimization is continuously
being unleashed by the state apparatus at a black market rate.
Meanwhile, the ZINASU leadership appeared before
a Harare Provincial Magistrate's Court where they were acquitted
of the charges of contravening POSA on the June 16th of 2010 when
they addressed the University of Zimbabwe students. Court proceedings
in Gweru were the ZINASU leadership comprising of President Obert
Masaraure, Vice-President Tafadzwa Kutya, Treasurer General Zivanai
Muzorodzi and six other MSU students were expected to appear before
a Midlands Provincial Magistrate's court failed to take place
since the investigating officer had not completed the dockets.
