Don't say it, spray it
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
June 25, 2010

ZINASU has embarked on a campaign to spray it all red, citing students' demands and views. The Harare Central Business District was painted red with demands such as education for all, not to privatization, stop students' victimizations amongst other phrases. The campaign is expected to reach all the other remaining five administrative regions of ZINASU by Friday next week.

The campaign aims to air out the views of the students pertaining to the education sector and the manner in which the country is being governed. The government and the college authorities have remained obdurate in addressing students' issues and ZINASU is striving to come up with new strategies to ensure the government gets the morsel.

Meanwhile members of the National Executive Council are being deployed today to the six administrative regions of ZINASU to investigate the manner in which students are being affected by the Constitution-Making Process. The President Obert Masaraure and the Deputy Sec General Welcome Zimuto are travelling to Madziwa Teachers' College. The Sports Secretary Sharon Manjere and the Spokesperson will be at Nyadire Teachers' College over the weekend.

The visits come as a result of the reports ZINASU has received from the two colleges in question. The reports were against the Operation Chimumumu that ZANU-PF has launched as a mechanism to bargain for their demands to be enshrined in the constitution. The students from these colleges are complaining of their academic mission being disturbed by ZANU-PF thugs. The four National Executive Council Members are expected to report back on Monday about their findings and the reports shall guide the union in charting the way forward.
