NACAPEZ gets international recognition
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
June 22, 2010
The European Union of
Students (EUS) has joined forces with Zimbabwean students to fight
against privatization of education in Zimbabwe, which is a welcomed
move. They have made a press statement in relation to the state
of education in Zimbabwe and have vowed to fight for the betterment
of the Zimbabwean student through any means necessary.
The ZINASU leadership
is expected to have a meeting with the Danish Youth Council sometime
this week and shall also host eleven Danish students from the 22nd
to the 23rd of July this year. The Danish students' visit
is mainly based on capturing the challenges that are bedevilling
the students of Zimbabwe and to get more information about the only
students' union in Zimbabwe (ZINASU) currently led by Obert
Masaraure.
Meanwhile, the uncouth
Vice Chancellor of Great Zimbabwe University Maravanyika has blindly
instructed students' who are not through with registration
to pack their bag. ZINASU and the students at large shall not tolerate
such a move and the Treasurer General Zivanai Muzorodzi said that,
'The students are ready to fight even using their own teeth
to be allowed to write their exams.'
The Vice-President of
Madziwa Teachers' College Maxwell has informed ZINASU of the
disturbances they are getting from the ZANU-PF militia as the COPAC
led constitution-making process takes-off. ZINASU has seen that
this process will only yield violence of an untold nature as there
are no significant reforms that were done.
A student from
Nyadire Teachers' College who spoke on condition of anonymity
said that, 'The Inclusive Government has failed to play a
transitional role, as students we only witnessed a change of faces
and an inflated number of government officials but nothing to show
for it. Nyadire Teachers' College is also affected by the
same predicament similar to those of Madziwa Teachers' College.
The ZINASU leadership
is pleased by the manner in which the Students'
Solidarity Trust (SST) provided assistance to the student leaders
who were arrested last week at UZ.
The ZINASU leadership goes further to warn those who 'forge
complaints' against our allies 'on behalf of ZINASU'
to cease forthwith. ZINASU is an independent organization that does
not require favours from anyone in any quarter (It serves as a reminder
only).
